Description

One of the most beautiful Mexico Lagoons is at the heart of the Lacandona jungle, 55 Km from Las Nubes, within the Reserva Montes Azules limit. Besides the extraordinary natural beauty, it is a resistance symbol, opposed by previous Lacandona, while Spanish conquerors advanced to the colony.

In the lagoon there are small islands and archeological ancient places; the lagoon has a water body of 16 square kilometers.

Weather

Warm, humid, heavy rains all year and a yearly rain to 1500 to 2000 mm; temperature 22° to 24° C.

Location

It is in the Ocosingo municipality, in Emiliano Zapata, it is located in the state’s jungle region.

How to get there?

From Ocosingo to Altamirano, via Comitán in the state highway, at 17 Km, a 150 Km ground way to San Quintín Village and then Emiliano Zapata; from there you go to Miramar.

What to do?

Boat walking, rowing, swimming, fauna observation, horse riding and camping. It is recommended to carry drinking water, comfortable clothes and shoes for long distance walking, repellent and camping if desired.
