Botanical Garden
Park and Church San Marcos
Is the oldest in contemporary Mexico. The initial works in the formation of this Garden were done in 1944, buy it is until 1949 when the Botanical Institute of Chiapas was created. The Garden was inaugurated in 1951 and has an extention of 4.4 hectares at the edge of the Sabinal River. It comprehends in 98% chiapanese vegetable species from different Hot Climate Zones, the rest are out of state adapted plants. The visit is completed with a brief stop at the Botanical Museum that holds a collection of chiapas woods, including fossil ones.
